The theme of the 35^th annual conference of the Catalysis Society of South Arica is “Using catalysis to solve the UN SDGs”. We are excited to welcome Prof Angeliki Lemonidou as the plenary speaker at the conference.

As the first quarter of the 21^st century slips into history, humanity is facing tough problems that will require a concerted effort to solve them. These are identified in the United Nation’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) (n.d.). For human beings to have a chance at succeeding at averting these crises, we need everyone on board. The effort of catalysis scientists and engineers from all of the fields that comprise catalysis, will be required. This means that we need to align our research with developing the technologies required to solve the SDGs. The author of each submitted abstract will be required to identify a particular SDG, that their research contributes to solving.

The conference venue is the Emerald Tsogo Sun Resort in Gauteng Province, a peaceful environment for focusing our minds on the challenges facing humanity. The venue is 91 kms from OR Tambo International Airport.
